Vietnam’s EV Manufacturer VinFast Eyes Expansion into Southeast Asian Marketplace
Vietnam's automaker VinFast announced its intention to expand into the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV), market in its home region of Southeast Asia. The ambitious EV firm plans to roll out its full range of EV’s and has introduced its first four right-hand drive models.
The carmaker debuted its new models and global development expansion aims at the Future Mobility Asia 2023 event in Bangkok, according to a Vietnam News Agency report.
At the event, VinFast featured its three EV models the VF e34, VF 8, and VF 9, and said it is actively looking for new partners to expand its market and promote sustainable mobility solutions in Southeast Asia.
Countries in Southeast Asia are seen as strong potential markets for EV consumption, with VinFast seeing significant room for development and fast-paced growth for its full range of EVs.
Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of VinFast's parent company Vingroup and Chairwoman of VinFast, said that the expansion is part of VinFast's global development strategy. The company has set a target to provide ASEAN countries with smart and safe mobility solutions, and ultimately promoting a greener alternative.
In addition to its established lineup of cars currently sold in the US and Europe, VinFast provides a range of eight e-scooter models designed to target from mass to premium segments. VinFast's ecosystem also extends to e-buses and advanced battery and charging solutions.
